Carsington Water - A run and A walk
We woke late again, Monty having not stirred, and I opened the door to his confused little face. My turn to feed and walk him so we had a little stroll round part of the dog walk. This section had lovely views of the rolling hills and the morning birds were chirping away.
Back at dame Shirley we had porridge and toast for breakfast, then after some pfaffing Ian went off for a run around the reservoir. Loads of people began departing at this point, taking all the children with them. Nice. Monty and I walked another part of the dog walk then I settled outside, wrapped in my blankie as it was a bit cool, to read and nap. Good times. Ian returned sweaty and puffing. He had run faster than he intended. I would begin to worry if he did not run faster than he intended.
After he showered we set off to walk to the pub I had booked for Sunday Lunch. The Red Lion in Hognaston. Apparently Hognaston is an ancient village where the stagecoach from London to Manchester passed through. The weather had warmed up nicely, as is its want these days, and we all enjoyed the stroll.
The pub was very Olde Worlde with wood and slate floors, Monty loved the latter. We both had the Sunday dinner and it was delicious. All the veg were home cooked. Neither of us had room for pud.
We took a different route back, through some fields, which was lovely. We let Monty off and he had the time of his life, while being really good.
Back at Dame Shirley, we caught up with the weekends quizzes while sitting outside. It got a little cool around 7.30 so we all retired indoors. I prepared a nice little cheeseboard for supper (no photo) before it was time for Ian to take Monty for his good boy evening stroll. Then we closed the door on his confused little face and went to bed.
Musings
The English countryside in spring is amazing.
Monty is confused by squirrels.
We can’t afford to retire to a tiny converted chapel in the English countryside.
Home cooked veg are the best.
