Torchlight - Soul2Soul

We had the best lie in. After a very peaceful nights sleep none of us stirred till 8.30, not even Misty. The constant drone of the generator had become like a comfort blanket and all else was silent. It was Ian’s turn for Misty so he donned his Dry Robe, much to the delight of the Area Steward (or our leader as we like to call him) who lives just over the way. We did the usual morning pfaffing before Ian leapt up to go for a run. While he was gone I had a Dame Shirley shower and made a stunning full English. Sadly no photos remain of this event, but there is one of Ian half way through a Heather Patch.

After eating Ian rushed off to the camp showers, which he had explained as being like the ones at school with a central bench for changing and leaving your clothes. ‘Were they busy?’ I asked. ‘No, only me.’ He replied. ‘ Until a lady came in to clean while I was drying off!’ Oh how we laughed.

We had noticed many people headed up to the arena early with trolleys full of chairs. We presumed it was like the German holidaymakers round the pool. Setting up for later. Because of this and the fact we are so close we decided to be chairless. Just wander up to see the band, stand at the side, then come back and chill between acts. This worked very well. We missed Gina Larner as we have the Discovery + app and, with Vickys help, managed to get the Liverpool game on our TV. After that we wandered off to see Shania Twain. She was very good, although we were a bit distracted at it was the first home game of the season (massive problems with the new digital season tickets as predicted) and we needed to know how things were going.

We returned to Dame Shirley for a bit,  where Misty got her head stuck in a beer box.

With us 0-0 at halftime we went to see the next act. Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5. What can we say. They sang all their own songs. Back to Dame Shirley again to find it had ended 0-0 but we looked pretty good. Next we wandered up to see Deco, billed as 80s fayre. Rubbish. So back to Dame Shirley where I made some tea and we watched the Aston Villa game. We checked Spotify for The Lottery Winners music and decided it wasn’t for us, so skipped them. We felt we ought to go up for the headliners, soul2soul, but weren’t expecting much. We got what we expected, although we did decide to go in the mosh pit at the front. Well, a camping and caravanning style mosh pit, with no moshing. It was a much better view and there were dogs in there. Note to self for tomorrow.

Having fun

My dream coat

We left soul2Soul to it after a bit, and returned to give Misty a quick stroll before hunkering down to watch match of the day with Brandy and breadsticks. Then off to bed for another hopefully peaceful night.

  1. “Sounds” like you’re having a good time. Misty is obviously enjoying herself!

  2. We saw the Lottery Winners as support for Avril Lavigne, I think you made the right choice to skip…
