Sherwood Pines - Walking

We awoke to a glorious cloudless sky. Ians turn for Misty and he reported seeing wrens and chaffinches flitting about, and squirrels tempting Misty to chase them (no luck). We lazed about reading the paper and pfaffing before rising to prepare ourselves. No cooking this morning as we had decided to go for a walk in the forest, where our first stop would be the cafe for breakfast.

We took a slow stroll up and found a seat outside. Although the sky was blue it had turned chilly so we both had our coats on. It wasn’t long before our full Englishes arrived. They were delicious.

Breakfast on the terrace

There was a very annoying family sat near us whose son seemed to be called Jeeves. Jeeves keep climbing on a Chair and attempting to swing himself over the balcony to his death. Mum didn’t seem to care. They also had a load of dogs who were on a lead on entering, then they promptly let them all off to roam between the tables at will, annoying other dogs and humans alike.

Sated, we set off on a lovely walk around the forest. We walked past the disc golf course first, and having a handy frisbee in the backpack had a go.

Can you spot the frisbee?

We also called at the WW11 trenches. The real ones were used as training for troops. There was also a mock up one to walk through.

Then we followed a lovely trail that ended up back at the visitor centre

Soon we were back at Dame Shirley and thankfully supping on Irn Bru (courtesy of Kathy!)

We sat outside and did the pub quizzes before the cold got the best of us and we retired inside for a meal and football. Then it was time for me to do the inside jobs and Ian the outside, in time honoured Motorhome fashion, in readiness for departure.

We had had a brilliant time at Sherwood Pines. All three of us really like this campsite and intend to return again soon.
