Castleton - Peverel Castle

I slept from turning the light out at 9.30pm, to 7.30am the next day. As the clocks went back that was 8.30 am in old money. I was definitely tired. The overnight rain had petered out to leave a glorious day. The ridge was perfectly clear and we could see lots of people walking along, presumably enjoying the view. We have put it on the list to do again on a better day. I popped over to see if we could stay a little longer than the 12noon latest departure time. Given the go ahead I cooked up a nice sausage and bacon sandwich.

Cooking in Dame Shirl

After breakfast a man came over to say hello. He too had a Rollerteam Zefiro 696. Ian had a nice long chat with him where they discussed their 696 faults while I washed up. He pointed out that there is a 696 Facebook group which I have applied to join. They don’t just let anyone in! We then had a lovely walk up to Peveril Castle in the sunshine.

After we had walked back down to the village, we had a lovely cup of coffee in Dolly’s tea room. I was comfortable sitting inside as we had no muddy boots or muddy dogs. Once back at Dame Shirley it was time to pack up and head for home. We will definitely be back to Castleton.

OS Watch

Neighbour watch

We watched a guy take half an hour or more trying to position his caravan with one of those remote control thingys. Plus our friend from team Rollerteam.
