Scotland - more cycling, more walking and a bath
I have seen it! I have seen the Roman baths!
Vicky was on a late shift starting at 1.30 so we all had a lie in. Then Vicky and Alex did some washing and hung it on my new clothes dryer, much to my excitement. The boys were going on a long cycle which i declined. Ian had brought one of (he has many) his old bikes for Alex and they were readying them as I left to run Vicky to Blantyre. I called at Asda where I had a lovely chat with a lady on the checkout then returned to Dame Shirley. The boys were still readying themselves. Turns out they had set off once but a bit fell off Alex’s bike and they had to return. After using many tools and much muttering, they abandoned that bike and Alex decided to use mine, minus power. Eventually they were off and I prepared myself for my activity of the day. I had decided to walk around the lake again. I got a good look at The Hole on the way out. There were many, many, men now. Some on phones, some still scratching heads, some staring into The Hole.
The car park for M and Ds, Scotlands major theme park, was rammed today. Although it was cloudy it was quite warm. Seems summer has arrived. I retraced our steps from the other day but took a right turn after the bridge instead of going straight on. And there it was, the Roman Bath. Don’t know how I missed it before. Turns out the Roman Fort (site of) is just an assumption. They have never actually found any evidence. But the baths are there in all their small glory.
Carrying on I came across loads of people. Running, walking, playing in the sand and barbecuing. It was busy, busy.
Round at the water sports centre I had a lovely coffee in the rival kiosk. I watched families going out on a speedboat and kids playing on bumper boats. I had almost arrived back at The Hole when the boys caught me up. They had been on a round tour, culminating in coffee at Chatelherault. We sat around comparing notes and listening to the peaceful sounds of a Jack hammer digging in The Hole.
I made a bit of tea then went to collect Vicky, who had been picking up bikes for the elite athletes. Then we all had a lovely night sat under the clouds in the balmy Glasgow air, drinking wine and answering quiz questions. It would be our last chance as the lovely weather we’ve been having is set to turn nasty tomorrow.

The smallest camper van in the world has arrived, and the lady in it is tiny too. Someone wrote a nasty review of the site so I countered with a nice one. They complained that it’s only for old people as their kids were told off for roaming free. The warden says she asked them to rein in their feral kids but they took no notice. A medium Motorhome arrived yesterday and the couple immediately got the chairs and Prosecco out. I wonder if it’s a tradition.

Sounds like a nice quiet day Jackie and congratulations on finding the baths.
