Today we were moving on to North Yorkshire. Our final morning at Dunstan Hill was another bright one. We have loved this camp site, with its easy access to the sea, the coastal path, and the bus stop. We would definitely return in the future. We breakfasted on porridge, before beginning the pack up. Just before 12 noon we rolled out on our way to ‘The South.’
We waved at Kathy and Einar as we passed Newcastle, and at the White Water camp site as we passed Middlesbrough. Around Redcar we started feeling peckish, and with no other suitable stopping point to be found we decided on a detour to Saltburn. I have never in my whole life been to Saltburn before, but I’m glad I visited. The way in is a bit tricky in a Motorhome with a couple of real hairpin bends. One was made even trickier by an idiot parked in the turning point, and a bus coming the other way. Of course Ian was unflappable and executed the manoeuvre with ease, while glaring and shaking his head at the fool. Down by the sea we found a car park with several Motorhome parking spots, and set off to find food. We found delicious pasties which we ate on a bench watching the, pretty high, waves. Followed by coffee which we drank walking along the pier. Dogs aren’t usually allowed so we feel this was Misty’s first pier visit.

Stormy weather
Now we were fed and watered we continued our journey. Just six miles and a couple more hairpins later we arrived in Hinderwell and Serenity Camping. Our arrival was a bit hairy as there was no one there to greet us and Dame Shirley kept getting in the way of cars coming and going. Eventually a man returned from wherever he had been hiding and directed us to pitch number three. It has a lovely view of the North Yorks Moors to the West. To the East is the sea where we will visit tomorrow.

Chillin
We ummed and ahed but decided against the awning, just sat outside for coffee. At the bottom of the site, beyond the last caravan, is a lovely little tentless tent field, then a gate to a bridleway where dogs are to be walked. We had a wander round then back up through the village, spotting a butchers come grocers, a couple of pubs, and a fish and chip shop. Just as we got almost back to serenity the heavens opened, and we got wet! Never mind. We settled down to watch The Masked Dancer, never heard of Cactus’s alter ego, Gareth Malone, then I made a curry for tea. We have a lovely walk planned for tomorrow.
Neighbour watch
The pleasant lady next door at Dunstan can talk for England, as can Ian. I had to be rude in order to be ready to leave for the 12 noon latest departure time. At Serenity all the neighbours are serenely quiet, except the Barnsley fan opposite. He had radio Sheffield on full blast. I’m assuming Barnsley scored a goal due to his excessive cheering. Football fans!! He then had fish and chips for tea.
