Northumberland - Our Queen
Another snug night was had in Dame Shirley, and we arose to another bright day. The day of Our Queens funeral. We breakfasted then sat and watched until the service was over.
Afterwards Kathy and Samwise visited. This was to be a special walk as Sam had never been on a beach before! We walked along the cliff tops to the village of Seaton Sluice, crossed the bridge over what I am assuming is the sluice and headed for the long expanse of sandy beach.
As soon as Sams feet hit the sand he went wild, bouncing and running. Kathy always keeps him on the lead as Beagles never come back, and she had to run to keep up with him. He also kept finding, and trying to eat, big clumps of seaweed.
There were a few little hitches. Ian took the lead down by the sea and Sam zoomed into a deep bit of water, coming up soaked and spluttering. Ian took his ball to throw into the sea for Misty, and lost it. Ian let go of the lead, leaving Sam bounding up the beach, and three people running after him like a Benny Hill sketch. Luckily Kathy managed to get her foot on the end. All in all it was great fun, and I think Sam enjoyed it too. The beach at Seaton Sluice is highly recommended.
Because Sam should only really walk a mile in one go, Ian trotted back for the car while Kathy, the dogs and I sat on a bench in the sluice watching the world go by.
We really wanted to visit the ‘excellent’ chippy in the village, but that, along with all the pubs there, were closed. Never mind. The Delavel Arms right next to the campsite was open. So Sam had another first. First time in a pub. He was really good, once we had figured out how to get two dogs under a table, and where to tether them. He barked a couple of times, once when a new labrador came to the next table. He was fine when they said hello. And once the food came we kept him busy with peas. Kathy and I got our fish and chips in the end.
By now Sam was exhausted, so they left for home, apparently he was even good on the car journey! Ian and I did the washing up and settled down for our usual Monday night pastime. Watching all the quiz shows.
Neighbour Watch
Once again, boring. One side sat all the way through the funeral like us. The other was a very pleasant lone man in a camper an who told me his whole journey, starting from Kent. Luckily, just as my eyes glazed over, Kathy arrived. There was also a man in a caravan nearby constantly filling and emptying containers?
Nature watch
Not much to report here either

I started at the beginning of the walk! But I did not stop before we got in the car to drive back.
