Northumberland - Dunstanborough Castle

We woke to an absolutely beautiful morning, with no portent of the horrors to come. We sat outside to a giant full English from the vittels purchased yesterday, before lazing about in the sun. We had decided to visit Dunstanborough Castle today, and set off at midday to catch the bus into Craster. The bus stop is right outside the site and it arrived bang on time. Ten minutes later we were outside the kipper smokery on the harbour. We had thought to have something at the pub on the front that we have visited before, but due to the massive breakfast we were too full, so Ian went into the little cafe to buy a sandwich. When in Craster, ‘ I’ll have crab.’ No you won’t, it’s sold out. Being such a lovely day everyone in Northumberland was visiting Craster. Ah well, prawn will have to do. We crossed the harbour and set off for the castle, which everyone in Northumberland was also visiting!

At the castle

We sat at the castle for our prawn sandwich’s where the weather was taking a cool turn, indeed the coats came out. We also managed to get a nice cup of coffee there.
Leaving the castle behind, but not the crowds, we followed the coastal path northwards, over the golf course, and back to Embleton Bay. This time we had brought a ball, and Misty had great fun running in and out of the sea.

We followed the path back to the campsite where we all sat down for a little rest and cuppa.
Here was where the day started to go downhill, massively! The news was filtering through that Paul Warne and all his coaching staff were set to leave the club for Derby County. To say we were blindsided would be an understatement! Frantic texts and tweets were sent between me and Vicky as to our feelings on the matter. Mine being that I am bitter and twisted and hope they all crash and burn, Vickys being very similar to mine, and Ian wishing them well  (he’s a much nicer person than us).
Eventually we took ourselves off to bed. Who knows what tomorrow will bring

Neighbour watch

Ians best buddy had  left before we arose, as had a lot of others, but come tea time most of the pitches were filled again. I did notice that the caravan opposite was parked using remote control. And the old couple next door have three Pyrenean mountain dogs in a tiny Motorhome.
