The lakes - A Showing and a Meal

Image
I had a lovely nights sleep, disturbed only by the sound of nuts dropping off the trees onto the roof and four gunshots at 4am. It was so lovely that I didn’t wake up till 8.40. A new world record. Ian made the coffee then went off to bring the car down it having fully charged over night. I will never know if I got my full 40kw worth. We did the normal pfaffing then Ian made the porridge. “You don’t make enough,” was his reason for changing a three year old tradition. Ten minutes later he plonked a bowl of raspberries topped by a teaspoonful of porridge in front of me as I sat outside. “How much porridge do you use exactly?” He queried, as if he was going to make it again any time soon! I also noticed that, despite Ian telling me that wasp stings are painless and cause no problems, my arm had swollen to twice the size. Here we go again. Big Arm We both showered, but did not need the gadgets Vicky got us for our birthday as the showers were not push button. I like to call them thin...

The Lakes - Coniston Park Coppice

Time for another, very short, sojourn in Dame Shirley. We were revisiting an old friend, The Caravan and Motorhome club site Coniston Park Coppice. It was just a short trip as our visit had a purpose. A preview of an Art Exhibition and accompanying meal. But more of that later. Logistics forced us into taking Ian‘s car as well as Dame Shirley and I was to drive it. A little daunting but it is his brand-new pride and joy super duper Jaguar. We left earlier than usual as we had no Grandma wrangling to attend to. We checked out whether we could easily telephone each other for communication, and eventually managed it. We set off with the premise that I would follow along and Ian would spearhead the charge. Off out of the drive we went and I immediately got a phone call. “one of the doors is slamming. I will have to stop!” . At this point just before Thorpe Hesley I caught him up. Then he was again flying and I didn’t see him again till I spied him in the distance in a traffic jam clos...

Northumberland - Busy doing nothing

Ian decided to leave the connecting door open overnight, and we didn’t hear from Monty until about 8 am when we all woke up. It was a little bit overcast when I took him for his morning walk, so we all lazed about pfaffing. I had the makings of a full English left so around 1030 we got up and had a jolly good breakfast. Monty was walking a little gingerly so we decided to give him a rest as he had done a lot of walking, running and Galloping lately. I set to doing some tests for the upcoming flu season (Yes it’s here again!) While Ian read and scrolled through Facebook, something he promised he would never do. Late afternoon we gave Monty a little walk around the dog walk then decided to walk across to the Pub for dinner. It was at that moment it started to drizzle. Never mind we had our coats on and Monty was enjoying himself. The pub was about a mile away and we arrived dripping. To find that this pub does not serve food on weekdays! Oh well, we stayed for a pint, then we all tr...
